Barack Obama and Abortion…

I was reading a very important e-letter, regarding Barack Obama’s strong support of abortion.  It was written by J. Lee Grady, editor of Charisma Magazine.  I don’t see how any clear-minded, moral person (Let alone a born-again Christian) could vote for Mr. Obama, after understanding what his stance is regarding the unborn and partially-born.

Now that Hillary Clinton’s campaign has been kicked to the curb, the nation’s most powerful Democrat is steamrolling his way to the White House. The Obama machine is surging ahead with support from a huge army of young volunteers. And since John McCain isn’t doing much yet to attract the fractured evangelical voting bloc, Sen. Barack Hussein Obama will probably turn red states into blue ones in November.
 
A lot of people are excited about that possibility, including the nation’s most prominent African-American preacher, T.D. Jakes of Dallas. In a gushing endorsement, he told CNN last week that he “watched with visible goose bumps” as Obama claimed his party’s nomination. “This is not just a victory for African-Americans,” Jakes wrote, “it is a victory for democracy that proves that our country provides possibilities for all people.”
 
I’ll say amen to the fact that we are finally putting racism behind us. But I must admit that the goose bumps I felt last week were different from the ones Jakes experienced. I sensed sadness, and a bit of dread, as I realized that the people of the United States are hellbent on electing another leader who has no problem with killing unborn babies.

Who Have You Spent Time With Today?

Hey everyone!

Here’s a question that I’ve thought about on a number of occasion?  Who have you spent time with today?  When asked that question, a mind automatically mentally back-tracks over the different people we have had interaction with that day? 

 It is a biblical truth that “Bad company corrupts good character.” (1 Corinthians 15:33) That being true, then “Good company” should encourage and affirm good character, and even help to curve bad character.

So did you think of all the people you spent time with today?  But I have a question for you…

Did you consider the books you read?  What about the music you listened to?  The movies you watch? In essence, you are “spending time” with the authors/creators of those books, songs and movies when you are reading and listening to them.  Whether you agree with them or not, you are spending time with these people-their perspectives, their stories, their values, their hearts and their lives! What is it about bad-people company that corrupts good character?  Would it not be those very same things?? 

So I ask you again?  Who have you spent time with today? 

I remember a few weeks ago, I was thinking on this very same thought.  As I recollected my day, I mused that I had spent time with the God of th universe that day, John C. Maxwell, Dr. Don Colbert, and my family.  Definitely all days don’t look like this for me, nor should they (We need to be regularly taking time to pour into others as well), but this day was a day where I was enlightened and expanded because of the people I chose to spend my time with.

Choose wisely, who you spend time with today, whether it be people or different forms of media. Understand that each of these influences are helping to shape and to mold the person you are to become.

Powerful Interviews with Kevin Garnett

I am an NBA fan, but I tend to be more of players’ fan than a team fan.  For instance, I am not the biggest Raptor’s fan, because I don’t particularly enjoy watching any one player on the team.  Don’t get me wrong, if they were in the play-offs, I would still be cheering for them, but I don’t reallly follow them that closely.  I love watching guards, with exciting athleticism or exceptional ball-handling and play-making ability.

Another thing that I really enjoy is an inspirational story.  The following interview was the deciding factor in my decision to cheer for Kevin Garnett and the Boston Celtics in their quest to win the NBA World Championship.

I personally love and am inspired by Bill Russell’s display of fathering and mentorship in Kevin Garnett’s life, a man who grew up without a father.  I believe those words of affirmation and praise had a deeper impact than most people realize.

What Finally Got Me Started

I had thought about starting to blog for a while.  I like the idea of sharing inspirational, or even just cool and funny information I come across with other people.  I have done this for a long time (You could ask many of my friends and family), so the idea of blogging fit quite well in that regard. 

Last week-end I had the opportunity to go lead a workshop at a Christian youth convention in Waterloo, Ontario, which was taking place at Sir Wilfred Laurier University.  I was sharing on the topic of “What Are You Doing With Your Moment in History?”(I will share some of my thoughts on this topic in a later blog).  I had the opportunity to do that workshop twice-once for a group 68 youth, and a second time for a group of 63.  If you are interested in hearing a similar message I preached, back in November of last year, click on the link below and then scroll down to November 25th message and you can download it.

The Fun Begins!!

Well,

Hello out there!!  This, as you may notice, is my first blog entry.  It kind of feels like the first step on a new planet…well, maybe not that exciting, definitely a novelty nonetheless.  =D

I am interested to see the nature these blogs take on, as I continue with them.  I imagine they will contain everything from spirituality, inspirational quotes/videos/etc, and sports to my thoughts on a myriad of different topics.  I also intend on sharing certain moments and events from my life, whether it be a trip I go on, or concert/conference I attend. 

Anyways, should be interesting…at the very least, for me.
